US on the verge to ban TikTok, WeChat; China on the rush

The Trump administration decides to ban TikTok and WeChat demanding ByteDance company to sell over their ownership to America.

The US president on August 14th signed a contract with ByteDance, the parent company to sell the apps within 45 days. A senator of China said at the Geneva body on Friday that the US should specify the reasons before the ban. The US officials replied by claiming that it would disturb their policy agenda which later leads to the leakage of millions of US citizen’s personal data.

Furthermore, a delegate from the Chinese mission to the WTO did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Chinese statement will not have any consequences on its own. However, China could launch an official legal complaint about it to the WTO body.
